Working Online

This LibGuide answers many frequently asked questions about how to have the best experience when accessing and working with online materials.

Canvas

Canvas is the name of the online course management software used by all Piedmont University classes that have an online component.  Your professor will inform you whether your class has an online component and will provide detailed information about how you will use Canvas and its many features as part of your course work. Canvas is available through this URL: https://piedmont.instructure.com/

What is my Username and Password?

  • A student's Canvas username and password are the same as your Piedmont University Single Sign-on username and password. This username/password is the same one used for PilgrimNet, Webadvisor, and OpenAthens.
  • Student Single Sign-On usernames typically look like this: jsmith0101. They consist of first initial, complete last name and 4-digit birth date.
  • If you are new to the College and have received your College email address, your next step is to setup your permanent password for the Webadvisor system. Here is more information about how to do that.
  • If you have forgotten your Single-Sign-On password, you should use the Password Reset at Webadvisor to reset it.

How Can I Get Help?
No matter what part of Canvas you are working in, you can click the Resources button and you can receive context-sensitive help on the feature you are using.  Beyond that, you should look to your instructor for help with using Canvas in your coursework.  If you have problems logging on to Canvas, your instructor is also the person to ask for assistance.
