About the Library 

The Library’s staff and physical collections are located at the Arrendale Library, located on the Quad at the Demorest campus. The building features a collection of 70,000 printed volumes, 11 public access computers, four group study rooms, two conference rooms, a Lions Print printer, and seating for more than 100 patrons across three floors.

The 3rd floor is the main entrance floor from the Quad. It contains the current and popular reading collection, public-access computers and student printing, and librarian offices. The academic book stacks are located on the 2nd and 4th floors. Private and collaborative study areas are available on all three floors.

The Library's website is the portal to our Online Library, which provides access to a vast range of top quality resources that support classwork and research in all the disciplines offered at Piedmont University. Our website connects users with

  • Full-text articles from over 56,400 periodicals, including over 19,500 peer-reviewed journals.
  • Over 600,000 ebooks and over 70,000 streaming videos.
  • The complete Historical Periodicals Collections of the American Antiquarian Society and the complete full-text journal archives of JSTOR.

A broad selection of the University's historical materials is available through the University Archives Online, including student newspapers from 1908-2007. Featured on Archives Online are the complete issues of the literary/current affairs magazine published by noted social justice advocate Lillian Smith, best known as South Today.

The Library's Mission

The mission of the Arrendale Library of Piedmont University ...

is to support the University’s community of students and faculty in the pursuit of their academic research and intellectual ambitions, by providing them access to information and instruction wherever they are located.


Goal 1: The Library will provide easy access to research assistance, instruction, and resources that are adequate and appropriate to support the curricular and educational needs of the University community.
Goal 2: The Library will provide a selection of resources sufficient in quality, depth, and timeliness to represent the intellectual, spiritual, and cultural heritage of humanity, which is embodied in the University’s Mission and Core Values, as well as its academic programs.
Goal 3: The Library will design and enact an outreach strategy to engage the University community and promote greater awareness of the availability and value of the Library’s services and resources.
Goal 4: The Library will shape and maintain practical, welcoming environments - both physical and virtual - that encourage productive use by all members of the University community.
