How Can Grammarly Help You?

Grammarly for Education, formerly Grammarly Premium, can help you improve spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and style in your writing. Grammarly uses grammar-checking technology to review and improve text at lightning speed, correcting grammar, spelling, word choice, and style mistakes with extreme accuracy.

As you type, Grammarly checks your text for hundreds of common and advanced writing issues. Grammarly checks for grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement, article use, and modifier placement; and it also checks for contextual spelling mistakes, phonetic spelling mistakes, and irregular verb conjugations. Grammarly also provides synonym and other work-choice suggestions to make your writing more readable and precise.

Please note: the University's contract for Grammarly does not include the Generative AI add-on you may hear about on the web.

Getting Started with Grammarly for Education

Grammarly for Education is available for use by all current Piedmont University students, staff, and faculty. You have to create an account to use Grammarly, and you must use your Piedmont University email address as your username.

• Go to grammarly.com/enterprise/signup
• You must provide your Piedmont University email address -- @lions.piedmont.edu or @piedmont.edu Your email address will be your username.
• Grammarly should recognize your Piedmont email address and set up your account automatically. Be prepared to authenticate using your Piedmont single sign-on username and password. Your Piedmont password will also be your Grammarly password.
   
• After you sign up, you can login to Grammarly at this URL grammarly.com/enterprise/signin
• You can also just go to grammarly.com and login. You'll be recognized as a Piedmont University user.
• The Library strongly recommends that the most convenient way to interact with Grammarly is by installing the Windows or MacOS plug-in.

What About my Personal Account?

• If you already have your own free personal Grammarly account, based on a personal email address, you can't convert that into a Grammarly for Education account provided by the University. You would have to stop using your free personal account and create a new account based on your affiliation with Piedmont University.
• If you already have a paid personal Grammarly account, based on a personal email address, you can't convert that into the Grammarly for Education account provided by the University. You would have to cancel your subscription account and start your Piedmont account.
• You must create a separate account using the instructions above, based on your University email address to have access to all Grammarly for Education features.
