Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

This guide provides information on the Interlibrary loan services available to students, staff and faculty at Piedmont University.

Renewing or Returning Procedures

How long can I keep the book borrowed for me?

The lending period of a borrowed book is determined by the lending library, not by Piedmont University Library. Typically, borrowed material may be used for 2-4 weeks. Borrowed materials must be returned to the Library's ILL office by the due date written on the ILL band on the book.

Can I renew my borrowed book?

You must request a renewal no later than 5 business days before the due date written on the ILL band on the item. You can request a renewal from the lending library using the Renewal button beside the request information in your ILL account. If renewal is not granted, you must return the item to the Library's ILL Office by the due date.

What if I keep my borrowed book beyond the due date, or lose it?

All users- students, staff, faculty - are liable for any fines or changes imposed by the lending institution for lost or damaged items. Moreover, Piedmont University Libraries will assess a fine of $1 per overdue item, with no grace period and with a maximum fine per item of $25.
